Born in Tokyo in 1981, Chef Hideaki Serizawa moved to Australia during his middle school years and graduated from Barrenjoey High School in 1999, right here in our local community.

Driven by a passion for Japanese cuisine, he returned to Tokyo to train in the culinary hub of Akasaka, spending four years honing his craft.

In 2004, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening Ninja Japanese Restaurant. Through over two decades of dedication, Ninja has grown into a beloved local favorite - serving authentic Japanese flavors, crafted with heart, tradition, and care.

Today, Chef Serizawa continues to share his passion for Japanese cuisine, running Ninja together with his wife Naomi, side by side, as they pour their hearts into the restaurant and community they love.
